For young businesses such as Traveller Chair, the early years are always eventful. For others like us, it might have been sourcing funding, finding our customers or refining our product design. For the Traveller Chair team, it was all of these things alongside a global pandemic. Of course, we’re not the only ones affected. The whole world experienced a shift in perspective from the pandemic, and businesses of all sizes had to adjust.

We were interested to see that there was also an increase in the discussions about accessibility and inclusivity. For some, it was the first time that they were unable to travel, or had to make special arrangements for their plans. For people with reduced mobility, that’s a daily occurrence. As a result, there have been some great conversations that we’ve been a part of about how we can learn from our experiences.

For us as a business, we were lucky to have the opportunity to continue our work this year, albeit at a slower pace.

The team

The Traveller Chair team are all healthy, happy, and excited about what the future will bring. Richard, our founder, has enjoyed spending more time with his wife Jane, who inspired the Traveller Chair. They’ve been spending the time making big plans for their next trip away, whenever that might be!

The product

2020 was going to be the year that the Traveller Chair itself was released. Unfortunately, manufacturing and testing processes had to be temporarily halted to accommodate for the pandemic, so we were unable to launch our product when we had planned. Nevertheless, we’re still on the right track. The Traveller Chair is well on its way to being available to the public to purchase, with the current launch date estimated in Spring 2021. If you’d like to know when we have a date in our diary, sign up to our newsletter here.

The future….

If you know entrepreneurs, you know that a pandemic isn’t going to slow us down! Once the Traveller Chair is launched, we’ll be continuing on our mission to design products that help those with disabilities, reduced mobility and chronic illnesses get to their destinations, whether that’s the local shop or your dream holiday.

2021 is looking to be an exciting year for Traveller Chair, so keep in touch with us via our newsletter or our social media to be a part of our journey.
